Welcome to our community spotlight series, where we share the stories of communities and their members so that you, our readers, can find groups to be a part of, no matter where you are in the world.

Today, we sit down with Karla Williams, one of the women behind Boudicca GRVL Social an off road collective positioned to serve women in particular, but also catering all adventurous folks look for fun and community.

Tell us about Boudicca GRVL Social

Boudicca GRVL Social is a women-led off-road cycling group based in Suffolk. We offer a range of experiences for all levels, from beginners wanting to explore the beauty of gravel riding, to advanced rides that can be women-only or mixed group rides. We also organise bikepacking trips for those looking for a bigger adventure.

Where are you based and where do you serve?

We’re based in Suffolk and welcome riders from across the region and even from other counties! Our rides take advantage of the stunning forests, trails, and countryside around us, making every ride an opportunity to connect with nature.

What sort of riders are part of your community?

Our riders come from all ages and backgrounds, united by a shared love of off-road cycling, nature, and the freedom and escapism that comes with being out on a bike.

Do you target any specific groups?

We primarily focus on encouraging women and beginners to get involved in off-road cycling, helping them feel confident and supported. But really, anyone with a love of cycling, adventure, and community is welcome!

Tell us about your community activities; rides, meetups, etc.

We aim to connect people through regular activities:

  • Two rides a month — one women-only and one mixed group rides.

  • Night rides in the forest or urban exploration.

  • Monthly beginners’ rides for those just starting out

These rides are as much about fun, friendship, and support as they are about cycling.

How your community came to be / founder’s story

Boudicca GRVL Social was born from the passion for the outdoors that Nikki Feabes and Karla Williams share. Surrounded by beautiful forests, they wanted to create a space where people could connect, make friendships, and share their love of cycling. They quickly realised that others felt the same, riders travel from other further afield areas just to join us! It’s a source of pride and motivates them to continue their mission: getting more people on bikes, exploring nature, and feeling the joy of off-road cycling.
