Tell us about yourself
I’m a 28-year-old from up north who just loves racing bikes.
What do you love about cycling?
It seems like a cliche but it’s the sense of adventure, every time I get on my bike I can’t go wherever I want and switch off from everything else.
What barriers have you faced in cycling?
I wouldn’t say it was a barrier because I’ve learned to adjust my riding to it but many parts of the UK doesn’t have proper cycling infrastructure for everyone to share the road, pair that with the crazy amount of hate towards cyclist from motorists, I do find it a struggle to cycle around the “busier” parts of my area.
Why were you interested in contributing?
Cycling Culture Club and myself share the same ethos, sharing stories of lesser-represented groups within cycling. As someone who comes from a working-class background I will always strive to showcase the people in less explored parts of our community.
Your fondest memory on the bike?
My fondest memory is riding up Alpe d’Huez in 2022, I tackled the mythical beast for the first time after many efforts on Zwift’s Alpe du Zwift. As I hammered up the mountain I found myself having a rather cathartic moment, my body and bike as one.
